Fireworks as Mixamate receives police escort

A relatively straightforward Concrete Pumping job for Mixamate was ramped up a gear at the weekend, as we were assigned a police escort to get our concrete through!
The job took place on Saturday evening, around the time of a big fireworks display in Preston Park, Brighton. Owing to the huge amount of traffic surrounding the event, one of our machines got caught up in the melee, getting stuck down Preston Park Avenue running adjacent to the event.
As fate would have it, the local police were on hand to oversee the event, and took the immediate decision to clear the increasingly congested scene.
“It was an amazing scene,” said Mixamate Driver, Sean. “Everybody had gathered to see the fireworks and there was consequently a huge amount of congestion down the narrow lane. It was our fifth and final lorry load of materials to complete the job and time was of the essence to get everything administered in a single session. Luckily the police arrived at the scene fairly quickly. Two police cars put on their blues and twos, and one of the police officers walked along the scene, backing up traffic and clearing us through. I’ve never seen so much traffic move so quickly. We were only 500 metres from the job at the time, so we knew we were close!”
Indeed the job continued to be tricky even after Mixamate arrive on the scene, as 50m3 of C35 concrete needed to be pumped to trench from a distance of up to 145 metres away. Using Mixamate’s 60m pumping hoses, the three machines teamed up to form an assembly line and administer the concrete safely into the foundation base.
A huge relief and a dramatic scene as Mixamate received its first police escort onto site!
