Mixamate sponsors Eddie the Eagle

Mixamate recently presented the keynote sponsorship for legendary Olympian, Eddie the Eagle, at the Association of Specialist Underpinning Contractors (ASUC) Awards, held at Café de Paris in Central London.
The event was extremely well attended by industry professionals, and representatives from Mixamate were on-hand throughout the day to attend both the Awards programme and the Association’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) that took place in the same venue directly before.
Undoubtedly the highlight of the event was a keynote speech from legendary Olympian, Eddie “The Eagle” Edwards, who soared to fame at the 1988 Calgary Olympics as the first Olympic Ski-jumper to represent Great Britain since 1929. The 1988 Winter Olympics was the same event that saw the inclusion of the Jamaican Bobsled team made famous by the film Cool Runnings and Eddie, who received his own feature film in 2016, gave a truly inspirational speech about professionalism, dedication, and success.
It represented the first ASUC event attended by Mixamate since joining as Associate Members in October, and it is an industry sector that the firm takes extremely seriously as on-site screed pumping becomes a more prominent fixture in construction.
“Mixamate is hugely pleased to be a part of the ASUC,” said Chris Smith, Managing Director for Mixamate and Chairman of the Batched on Site Association. “A huge amount of the jobs we are called into now revolve around basement work and underpinning, and we are seeing a big influx in screeding work. As the Chairman of the Batched on Site Association and and the Managing Director of a firm that has taken significant steps in recent years to enhance the quality of its own in-house testing and service technologies, I am very pleased to be affiliated with an organisation that takes an equally thorough approach to high standards and quality control within the industry. We look forward to working with the ASUC as closely as possible.”
