SpeedCem Is an accelerant to dramatically speed up the drying process. It does this by chemically bonding any free water to the cement encouraging early hydration.
The chemically binding of the free water is a common process in almost all rapid dry cementitious products. Most of the major manufacturers of rapid dry cement products, will confirm that part of the early drying process is the chemical bonding of any free water.
Chemically bound water presents no issues to the early installation of most floor coverings, as the rapid curing / drying process continues even when the floor coverings are laid. There is one major exception to this. Timber floors exert a “pull” on any free water which can exceed the ability of the SpeedCem to retain it. Also, most wood floor manufacturers now require a moisture content of the substrate to be 65% or less.
